I Like Wild Game!

On Wednesday, Josh cooked up some delicious deer backstrap. He marinated it overnight and grilled it. Well, we weren't the only ones enjoying the delicious dinner. As soon as we sat at the coffee table to eat, Kami came crawling over to check it out. She couldn't keep her eyes off of the steak as we put it in our mouth. Finally, I gave her an itsy bitsy piece. She loved it and whined for more! So we tore off itty bitty pieces and fed them to her slowly. I couldn't believe it! My 13 month-old was eating deer meat and loving it!

She is starting to not like her baby food now, which is great, but now I need to figure out which table foods are appropriate and how much I should give her. It's just another new adventure for all three of us! Miss Karen at daycare told me I didn't need to bring bottles anymore because Kamryn was drinking out of her sippy cup so well. I guess she is really growing up!

By the way, any food suggestions from parents would be wonderful.

hey!! kami is just the cutest thing - cracks me up about her eating venison! lord, won't be long i guess before chris and uncle patrick are getting jobi to eat that too! i'm thinking of what we feed jobi - he has the same kind of "texture" thing as kami and if the bites are too big, he'll spit food out. but girl, whatever we have that we're eating, he thinks he HAS to have it too!! so i do try to give him a little (within reason of course - nothing too fatty, spicy, etc) to see if he likes it. he'll eat tiny bits of brisket, roast beef, or chicken that are tender, he loves soups, pasta... not a big fan of rice! he's begun eating table food at daycare and they give him little pieces of ham, grilled cheese, hamburger patty, diced peaches/pears, etc. he's done really well with most of it all (and i have to preface all of this mind you - our baby boy DOES have TWELVE teeth!!) i do always have some "graduate" type baby food on hand just in case he doesn't like whatever they have at school or what we may be eating. as far as snacks go - he LOVES string cheese and LOVES mini-marshmallows! he's also a big fan of applesauce- mott's is the best! they have all these different flavors - cinnamon, pear, granny smith apple, blueberry, peach, banana-strawberry, mango.... he loves it all! overall, we're really big on low sugar, mostly organic foods. i know his tastes will change as he gets older!! (haha) but i like to think i'm trying to instill early a taste for nutritious, healthy eating!

GOOD LUCK!!! :) keep me posted and if you find anything new that she ends up liking, let me know!
